Kawasaki's KLR 650 Liquid-cooled, 651cc, DOHC, 4-valve, single cylinder engine features a super broad torque curve for the widely varied uses of a dual sport motorcycle. Double engine balancers keep the engine running smoothly from idle to redline for best rider comfort and less fatigue on long rides. Ratchet-type, automatic camchain tensioner keeps cam timing “spot-on”. Free breathing, 4-valve cylinder head boosts low end torque and provides maximum valve area for optimum flow at highway speeds. Revised cam timing contributes to improved high-rpm performance. New intake porting offers greater low-end torque. New piston rings are thinner and have more tension, resulting in a significant reduction in oil consumption.

The Kawasaki KLX 250 is powered by a compact liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, single cylinder engine. With a bore and stroke of 72 x 61.2 mm, the engine displaces 249 cc. The engine is mounted low in the frame, contributing to a low centre of gravity. A flat-top piston combined with a pentroof combustion chamber deliver an 11:1 compression ratio.The lightweight piston, piston pin, and connecting rod allow high revs. The 4-valve DOHC cylinder head provides maximum valve area for optimum flow to boost low end torque. The use of a cam lobe for each valve with shim-under tappet arrangement provides low reciprocating weight for high rpm efficiency. The shim-under tappet arrangement also provides additional wear protection against lower quality oils.

The Kawasaki KLX 110 - Specially tuned for low end and mid-range torque the KLX110 is easy to handle and kid-friendly. Horizontal, 111 cc, SOHC engine is reliable and easy to maintain. Engine is air cooled for light weight, simplicity, and affordability. Two valve head uses screw type adjusters for easy maintenance. Cam timing is specially modified for low to mid-rpm performance. Internal oil filter is easy to change and is lower cost than spin-on filters. Keihin PB18 carburettor specially tuned for easy off-road riding. Efficiently designed airbox is compact and easy to service. Oiled foam air filter is easy cleaned and cheaper to maintain than paper elements.
