4-Stroke Advantage:
Experience counts, and Honda has sold 4-stroke outboard motors in
North America for thirty years—beginning long before other manufacturers
admitted their advantages. While 2-stroke engines rely on gas or air
to carry a thin oil film to critical components, our four-strokes
bathe every internal component in oil under constant pressure. Ports
in 2-stroke cylinders and pistons accelerate piston and ring wear.
But there are no intake and exhaust ports in a 4-stroke cylinder or
piston, so they can run with tighter tolerances for longer life.
Most Honda Outboards have a two-year non-declining, non-commercial
warranty or a one-year commercial warranty. |

Honda's 2-horsepower engine is the lightest
four-stroke outboard motor in the world. It delivers
the power and smooth, comfortable operation your customers
need in a small, easy-to-handle package. It's extremely
low-maintenance, with a transistor ignition that makes
it easy to start...and a forced-air cooling system that
eliminates the need for a water pump.

The BF5 offers the convenience of forward,
neutral and reverse gears and much greater cruising range
with a remote fuel tank. The Honda BF5 is designed to
deliver high torque in a lightweight/compact package.
It is ideal as auxiliary power for smaller sailboats and

Honda R&D used the design parameters
of the new BF9.9 hp to mold the new Honda BF15. The result
is a 15 hp four-stroke outboard just slightly larger and
a little heavier than a 9.9. In fact, you really have
to look for the horsepower label on the engine cowl to
distinguish between the new 15 hp and the 9.9 hp Honda
outboards.

Honda R and D used the design parameters
of the new BF9.9 as the target for the new Honda BF20.
The result is a 20 hp four-stroke outboard just slightly
larger and a little heavier at just 46 kilograms. In
fact, you really have to look at the horsepower label
on the engine cowl to distinguish between the new 20
hp and the 9.9 hp Honda Outboard Motors.
